Fruiting Bodies : Textiles
Exploration of traditional textile crafts

Over the last 3 years I have taught myself the science and craft of natural dying. From growing my own golden rod, madder and woad to foraging for goods. I have experimented with medieval processes and deepened my knowledge of the connection humans have always had with plants and land to aid their mental and physical health.
Working with plants in this way; exploring their gifts of colour and beauty, learning about their properties and significance in history brings me joy. It also presents to me the simple sustainable pleasures of traditional craft. The experiential process of working with natural dyes brings me closer to the landscape around me and how we can live in direct relationship to earthly cycles.
Natural dyes made from waste vegetable matter and foraged materials: nettle, red and white onion skins, copper, iron, pomegranate, seaweed, mushrooms, avocado, rhubarb, marigolds, golden rod, eucalyptus leaves and horse chestnut husks.
Natural dyes for costumes and interior commissions and for artworks.
Waistcoat commissions
Made from second hand vintage wool blankets and fabrics and wool sourced from charity shops. I make naturally dyed and woollen waistcoats on a commission basis.
